Advocacy is the voice of GOSK — and that voice belongs to every woman in Kenya whose life has been touched by gynaecologic cancer. We recognise that excellent clinical care and world-class research are only part of the solution. Without deliberate, sustained advocacy, the systemic barriers that prevent women from accessing timely diagnosis and treatment will persist. GOSK is committed to challenging those barriers at every level — in clinics, in communities, and in the corridors of policy.
We engage with government bodies, health ministries, and regulatory institutions to advocate for policies that expand access to gynaecologic cancer screening, treatment, and palliative care across Kenya. We work to ensure that cervical cancer vaccination programmes reach every eligible girl, that trained specialists are available in all regions of the country, and that the financial burden of cancer does not determine a woman's chance of survival. Our advocacy is rooted in data, informed by our members' clinical experience, and amplified by the voices of patients and survivors.
At the community level, GOSK raises awareness about the signs and symptoms of gynaecologic cancers, empowering women to seek care early and without stigma. We partner with civil society organisations, faith communities, and media platforms to take life-saving information beyond the hospital walls. Every woman who learns to recognise a warning sign, every family that supports a loved one through treatment, and every policymaker who champions greater investment in women's cancer care is a testament to the power of advocacy — and to GOSK's unwavering commitment to a healthier Kenya.
